Her strength is bigger than her scars

At just seven years old, Sophia's life changed in a moment no child should ever have to face. A house fire left her as the only survivor, carrying burns that would alter how she moves, walks, and plays.

Since then, her days have included hospital visits, recovery, and learning to adapt to a body that healed with scars.

Yet if you meet her today, you would first notice her laughter. Bright, playful, and full of life, she carries a spirit much bigger than the hardships she has faced.

  • Now 19, Aureanne is pursuing a degree in BS Psychology. Her choice of course isn’t accidental—she dreams of one day helping others who carry scars of their own, whether seen or unseen. Her past struggles have made her deeply empathetic, turning her pain into a calling. Yet beneath her quiet determination lies a young woman who longs for the freedom to smile without hesitation, to meet new people without fearing judgment, and to finally feel at peace in her own skin.

  • We will begin with an MRI to evaluate the soft tissue and ensure no remnant hemangioma remains. Once cleared, Aureanne will undergo excision with facelift to restore facial balance, blepharoplasty to correct the ptosis of her right eye, rhinoplasty, and laser skin resurfacing,Botox injections to the masseter muscle will further refine her facial contour, while eyebrow tattooing will frame her features and restore symmetry.

  • Aureanne was chosen because she represents courage at a young age. Despite years of hardship and stigma, she has not only persevered but found a way to turn her pain into purpose by studying Psychology to guide others. Her journey embodies the spirit of the Scar Project: transforming scars into stories of victory, and giving a young woman the chance to see her future with hope and confidence.

What would it take for you to feel at home in your own reflection?

To look without hesitation. To smile without holding back. To see yourself the way you’ve always deserved.

Aureanne’s journey began early, and over the years, she has learned to live with changes that affected how she sees herself.

But beyond that is a young woman who continues to move forward with quiet strength and purpose.
